Mazzaro, 59, competed in a match against Mike O’Neil on Sunday, Jan. 23. They started on the back nine, and by the time they got to the par-3 14th, he was already three up.

He hit a 5-rescue 170 yds into the wind with the pin up front . Everyone saw the ball land on the front of the green and drop perfectly into the hole. Hole No. 15 was halved, and O’Neil took No. 16 to drop to 3 down. O’Neil hit his approach to within a couple of feet on the par 3 17th.

At that point he probably thought he could go two down however that was not to be the case. Mazzaro then hit a 6-iron from 140 yards which landed about five yards short of the cup and bounced right in.

Mazzaro had used the same ball for both aces.  On the next hole, he nearly lost it however when he hit his approach shot into the water.
Luckily he was able to fish it out because it hit the bank and just rolled in.

On the fourth hole of the front nine, Mazzaro won the match. He was able to put his lucky  ball in his bag and went on to win his second men’s club championship in a row and his third overall.

Mazzaro’s streak was not over yet however. He played Royal Palm Golf Club on the following Tuesday after being invited by some pals. Incredibly Mazzaro was able to make another hole-in-one on the par-3 16th hole. 

Using an 8-iron his shot fell just short of the pin bouncing a couple of times before ending up right in the cup.

Mazzaro now has seven total aces despite just working for Dooney and Bourke as a sales representative. He does own the golf course at Stillmeadow Country Club in Cincinnati however.

He worked there as a caddie as a youth, and after the club went bankrupt in 2009, he bought it a few years later.

Mazzaro works at the club with his wife and two sons, one of whom is the course superintendent. They’ve turned it into a family operation doing everything from  mowing the courses to cleaning toilets.

Mazzaro doesn’t get to play much at his course because it’s so busy so when October arrives, he heads down to Naples. From 2003 to 2015, he played at Cypress Woods before discovering TPC Treviso Bay.

There are a lot of good players at Treviso who motivated him. He is in a group that’s quite competitive so it has  encouraged him to improve.

Peter Meurer, 64, is one of the club’s best players. He finished tied for 22nd in the State Senior Amateur Tournament last year. Rob Myhill, 74, was in another match with Mazzaro in his club championship group when Mazzaro made the two aces, and he has since served as a mentor.

Mazzaro has clearly enjoyed this period, but there is one thing he would like to achieve at some time. Mazzaro thinks it would be amazing to get the Treviso Slam (a hole-in-one on each of the club’s par-3s). Quite a goal but you wouldn’t put it past him.

Jack Nicklaus, 82, and Justin Thomas, a 28-year-old PGA Tour player have begun construction at Panther National in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.  The two are planning a high-end estate neighbourhood encircled by a championship golf course that will open in late 2023. It’s the first new golf course in nearly two decades in the area.

Nicklaus has said that he believes it’s fantastic to see golf expand in Florida. 

Panther National will be spread over 400 acres, with a 2,400-acre conservation area surrounding it. The 18-hole golf course will be surrounded by 218 estates with the  size of the properties ranging from 4,700 square feet to 10,000 square feet. Panther National is not a cheap place to live; d epending on size and amenities, the properties will range in price from $3.5 million to $12 million.  Panther National has 125 reservations so far. 

It will be Thomas’ first time designing a golf course. Thomas stated that all he wants to do is learn as much as he can from his partner. He has said that golf course architecture fascinates him.  He will be learning from one of the best in the game and is prepared to take all his advice.

They’ve worked with Tesla Energy to install power wall backup systems throughout the estates. It is just a part of their aim to build an eco-friendly community. It will enable owners to include environmentally friendly items such as solar panels. Each estate has a two- or three-car garage with electric charging stations. All include a golf cart storage, an outdoor kitchen, and a private pool.

A state-of-the-art golf ball tracing technology, access to expert pros for teaching, golf simulators, a putting area, and world-class training facilities are among the additional features on the property. Panther National members will also have access to the club’s custom fitting facilities, as well as clubs from all of the main equipment manufacturers.

They see it as their responsibility to attempt to make this golf course a little different; to be a little more special, something that’s as intriguing and as attractive as possible.

Nicklaus and Thomas’ partnership is their first time designing a course together. Through his company Nicklaus Designs, Nicklaus has participated in the creation of over 420 golf courses across the world.

The two players have also discussed the looming threat of a Saudi golf league, which has recently returned in the news. The new golf league is attempting to entice some of the greatest names on the PGA Tour by offering guaranteed money and larger rewards.

Nicklaus doesnt think that something like this suits the game of golf.  According to him, golf in the United States and the PGA Tour are already in excellent shape. A Saudi league is just a complete abnormal situation that he doesn’t believe is good for the game.

He emphasised the PGA Tour’s significant charitable component, stating that they raise more money for charity than any other sports league.

Thomas, who confirmed his commitment to the PGA Tour this week isn’t attracted to the Saudi league. He has said that if he got just $15 winning the Masters he’d still be content. Obvioulsy the check is great but not the reason that he plays major championships.

Woods has developed golf courses since 2006, but PopStroke is his first venture into putting courses. He returned to compete at the Masters this year after suffering catastrophic leg injuries in a vehicle accident in February 2021.

During the peak of his power, Woods’ putting was practically flawless. He missed only three of his 1,540 putts from three feet and in on the PGA Tour between 2002 and 2005. As they continue their expansion, they are happy to offer PopStroke to the Sarasota community. They want to bring friends and family together to create lifelong moments while playing golf.

A new law will establishe a resilience office that will report to the governor and prioritise initiatives.
